Born in New York City and educated at the University of Pennsylvania and the Art Center College of Design, Beattie has been cartooning since 1980. First in editorial cartooning, then adding newspaper gag cartoons to his repertoire, Beattie was nationally syndicated in over 250 newspapers for more than 25 years. Featured in magazines, television, books and museums, Beattieā€™s cartoon talents have reached an audience of millions. As president of the National Cartoonists Society, Beattie spoke to groups across the country entertaining them with his wit and art. Beattie has now broken into the ranks of professional public speakers. In addition to his highly acclaimed shows featuring customized cartoons for every audience, Beattie freelances gag cartoons to publications around the country.

    I like your cartoons very much. 2 of them are some of my favourite cartoons of all time:

    “Being tied up doesn’t bother me _nearly_ as much as this apple they just put in my mouth.”, and

    “Listen, Intelligent life! If we leave a message after the beep, they’ll call back soon!”
